New Year's Resolution

I had a very Merry Christmas!! Got tons of nice clothes and of course lots of Victoria's Secret gift sets and perfume. Yay!

Christmas Eve I got my first set of french manicure nails!! They look so sexy and I love them. I even got my brows waxed finally.

This time I TRULY plan to keep it up. What was the push? A hot guy told me that I really look like I take care of myself when he saw my pic online. Ok, lemme explain.

I play lots of online games and I don't mind showing my pic to some ppl who are curious. So I have a few pics saved on my computer that I pull out to show ppl who I feel comfortable showing them to.

One of these game, a really sweet guy wanted to see me so I showed him. His line about my taking care of myself hit me hard.

He has no idea that since that pic was taken, I haven't had my brows waxed, I shave my legs just whenever, I never work out, and I eat like shit (I am going back on Atkins).

What someone sees in a few pictures does not give a perfect representation of how that person looks everyday.

But dammit, I see beautiful women who DO look like that most days. One of my former co-workers was just like that.

I know I have written a couple of entries just like this in past years. What happens?

I get lazy, I get broke, I get busy. But mostly, I get lazy.

For my New Year's resolution, I plan to take better care of myself outside and inside. I did so well on Atkins a few months ago. I stopped because I am afraid of success. I lost so much weight and kept losing...then I stopped the diet and have gained 5 pounds back.

I resolve to treat my body, mind, and soul the way God intended. I will take care of myself for a more healthy self-esteem and a happier person inside.

I got it by Fed-Ex yesterday, and I am officially addicted!!

This pic of the box I found online makes the box look a lot bigger than it really is. As you know, the iPod Shuffle is the size of a pack of gum. (see first photo)

It is so easy to work. I didn't even have to read the instructions in order to work it, but I like to make sure I am doing things right so I did read the booklet.

It is as simple as plugging iPod into a USB port to let it charge and to download songs into it.

Once all is done, you unplug it and listen to your tunes!

It is so light and small it is easy to carry it EVERYWHERE. But make sure, if you don't use the lanyard (necklace you attach iPod to) that you remember to take it out of your pockets or you may forget and wash it. I read about one poor guy that this happened to.

One thing I would like to see is a way to see the battery charge status on the software you use to add songs. The iPod itself has lights that tell you what the battery status is, but for those of us with Desktop computers, and the USB port is facing behind my desk....it can be daunting, having to get up and look behind the desk to see the lights as it is charging.

So far that is my only suggestion/complaint.

Other than that, I am gratefully jamming to my favorite tunes!!

Late...As Usual

I made out my Christmas cards already, now I need to get off my ass and send them soon.

Unfortunately, people who are getting gifts from us won't be getting their packages until days after Christmas. I don't get paid until the 22nd and that is the money I am using to pay for gifts and postage.

I feel really bad but there is not much I can do about that. Better late than never!

For my online friends, an E-card is forthcoming if I have your email addy. If not, let me know. :)

VODKA, MY DEAR, WONDERFUL, AND WELCOMED, VODKA

My new favorite alcoholic drink is Vodka. Yummm. Until now, I've just been drinking it with soda or juice. But now there are two vodka drinks I am dying to try.

1. Flirtini. Anyone who watched (watches in reruns) Sex in the City knows about this one from an episode where Samantha has a block party and serves this drink to her friends. I plan to try this one for New Years.

2. Dirty Martini as suggested by Jennifer Aniston on Oprah. I want to try this soon!

Here are the recipes for all you other Vodka lovers out there! My personal commentary are in italics. *hee hee*

Flirtini

1 oz. Vodka
2 oz. Champagne
2 oz. Pineapple juice

Combine Vodka, champagne, and pineapple juice in a highball or collins glass.

In my case, to a regular glass since I am not sophisticated enough to own glasses designed for alcoholic beverages.

Dirty Martini (recipe found online somewhere)

1 1/2 oz. Vodka (or gin for you gin lovers)
Splash of olive juice
Dry Vermouth (if desired)
Olives

Stir over ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with olives.

Note: Olives stuffed with anchovies (yuck!!!) or ones that you stuff yourself with blue cheese, smoked salmon, ect, are a delight in this drink.

Stick to vodka when using these, as it has the most neutral flavor of any spirit and is least likely to interfere with the taste of the drink and garnish.

I haven't personally tried any of these, but if you do before me, let me know if you liked it. :)

Holiday Money Blues

Holidays are coming even closer and I am getting more nervous that we won't have enough money to get everyone something. Luckily, I did some shopping this summer so many of my friends and family are covered, but I still have more.

Living so far away requires us to ship the items as well, so the majority of our money is going to shipping costs. *ugh*

We will know for sure this weekend when dh gets paid. I don't get paid until next Thursday. Cutting things really close as we always do during the holidays.

My Six Foot Friend and Tree

I am very excited!! I got some news that a very close friend of me and dh might be moving out here to go to grad school!! He still lives in Kansas but he is looking at a school about a half hour from us here in NJ. YAY!!!! I really miss him and his moving out here would be awesome.

I don't have many friends out here since I work from home and dh just started his new job. Having a friend move out here would be awesome.

On other news, we finally got a normal sized Christmas tree! The last 10 years we've been together, our tree has been a tiny desk tree about 2-3 feet high. We never felt the need to spend hundreds of dollars on a huge tree for just the two of us. Well who would say no to a FREE tree? My sister-in-law's in-laws moved out of state and left a bunch of things. One of the items they left was a slightly used but not old, 6 foot fake pre-lit tree made by GE. The price tag is still on there $169.99. We got it for FREE! YAY! Now we just need to buy some ornaments.

Lookin' Good!

So I finally got the Oliver Twist dvd that I ordered and all psyched up to watch it, I stuck dvd in the player and heard it but couldn't see it. Called hubby at work and asked wtf is wrong with our player. He explained that he hasn't had time to hook it up correctly.

We've been in this house since July. *Grumble*

On another note: I lost my makeup bag the other week. Since I don't wear makeup too often, I don't have a lot of it. Compact, blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, mascara, eyeliner.

Had to go out and replace the whole thing the morning of Thanksgiving so I could look decent for Thanksgiving dinner at my in-law's place.

Hubby was pretty angry about my losing the makeup and having to shell out $25 for more (I buy cheap ones like Cover Girl)

Then a day later I lost the eyeshadow and assuming I accidently threw it away, I had to go buy another. Hubby hated this even more.

Guess what, he just found my lost eyeshadow in the car. *blush*

I love hubby!
