Reading

I am behind on updating my "Book I Am Reading" link on the upper right hand of this page. I just finished a book called Karma by Mitchell Smith. A great book!

Now I am reading something else. To see what I am reading now, click that "Book I Am Reading" link.

Death of the Cold

I'm dying.....of a head/chest cold. It really sucks too. Going into a four-day weekend with a freaking cold.

They can put a man on the moon, they can invent the internet, but they can't find a cure for the common cold.

Priorities, people. Where are the priorities?

To Have Kids, Or Not To Have Kids...

My husband and I are infertile. Well, more like I am infertile. The only way for us to have a family is to get an IUI or IVF. And that costs lots of money when your insurance does not cover the procedure.

I've always wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember so knowing that I can't just do the bed-dance and become a mom, made me very depressed. I was mad at God, mad at nature, and jealous of every single mother in the world. I would cry in anger when I would see yet another child abuse case on the news and I would live in high hopes when my period was even a day late, just to crash when my period would show up.

Trying to get pregnant on our own for 2 years took a toll on me. So we decided to stop for a while. We wanted to get our vacations, free spending, ect out of the way before we settled down. We postponed our visit to the fertility specialist for a year or two. Well, our year will be up this fall.

Now we are thinking that being childless is rather nice! Getting a puppy this Christmas was eye-opening for us. No longer could we go out and stay gone for several hours without having to come home to take the puppy out for a walk. No longer could we decide to just take a weekend trip without first paying for overnight boarding at our local vet for the puppy. No longer could we have parties at our house since the puppy hasn't learned to not jump on people and to not eat people's food off their plates freely.

We realized having a baby would be 1000000% more restricting for us. Unlike a dog, we can't just put our baby in a crate while we go to the movies. We can't just drop our baby off at a boarding house for the weekend for only $20 a day. And baby food, diapers, clothes, ect is a tad more expensive for a baby. Also, we just bought a Mustang and since that is our only car, we wouldn't be able to keep it when the child became too old to comfortably and safely fit in the back seat.

So now our baby plans are on hold. It may be on hold forever. Part of me never wants to have a child now, but the other part of me is dying to be a mommy.

It is not a decision to take lightly. No matter what we choose, we cannot undo it. I wouldn't want to have a baby then decide this is not the thing for me. At the same time, I don't want to decide to not have a baby, then wake up one day when I am 70 years old and hate myself for not having a child when I had the chance.

Why is life so difficult?

Song of the Day: Papa Don't Preach-Madonna

"He says that he's going to marry me
We can raise a little family
Maybe we'll be all right
It's a sacrifice

But my friends keep telling me to give it up
Saying I'm too young, I ought to live it up
What I need right now is some good advice, please"

Why do people still believe those email forwards? Like the one about these people in parking lots who are trying to sell perfume, but they are actually trying to attack you. That is all bullcrap. I can't believe people trust these emails!

I ALWAYS go to Snopes to determine what is fact and what is fiction before I forward any of that crap to my friends and family. There is no point in upsetting or scaring people neededlessly because of some fraudulent email. It's amazing how many people blindly believe these anonymous emails. It must be a great time to be a con artist.

Another great way to tell if someone is pulling wool over your eyes with email fowards is to go to Urban Legends and Folklore .

If you prefer watching tv, you can tune into Myth Busters on Discovery Channel. They play a lot of re-runs of that show also, so if you missed some you can always catch up.

You will be AMAZED at how many urban legends all of us have believed or continue to believe even now!

For the sake of common sense and national intelligence, please stop believing everything you read, see, and hear without first asking yourself if it makes sense and what the source is. And for God's sake, PLEASE stop forwarding those emails to your friends and family until you are fairly certain it is real!

That felt good to vent.

There's No Place Like Home

Watching Colonial House on PBS really make me glad I live in this century. I can't tell you how relieved I was thinking about my job after seeing that show. I mean, I get paid to sit on my ass and answer the phone all day. While to most, that might not sound like the "dream job", but I guarentee if you lived in the 1600's you would sure think I had a dream job! I'd rather be answering phones than to be up at the crack of dawn doing grueling physical labor until the sun went down!

Damn, I love my life!

Song of the Day: Amish Paradise-Weird Al

"At 4:30 in the mornin' i'm milking cows,
Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows, fool
and I've been milking and plowing so long that
even Ezekial thinks that my mind is gone."

Shopping!

This weekend was fun. Bought some new clothes, shoes, and things for the house. Also bought a smoothie maker. I love smoothies with real fruit and low-fat yogurt. It makes a nice healthy snack or meal. So I've decided to replace one meal with one large smoothie for a couple of months so I can try to lose weight. The only "problem" is the cost of fresh fruit. I might just buy some frozen fruit when I am finished with the fresh fruit I have in the fridge.

Hubby and I also plan to buy a small freezer so we can start shopping at Sam's Club to save money. We will buy large amounts of frozen meats, dinners, and lunches and we can store them in our new freezer so we save money on shopping for those things every two weeks. We might buy the freezer this week but we'll have to see.

The Weekend is here!

I took tomorrow off from work. I just need a day to sleep in and relax. Of course, with a puppy in the house it is not as relaxing as it seems. But at least I won't be at work!

I have a lot to catch up on here online. A friend of mine has a new forum and I've only been twice. On that same topic, my forum isn't doing too well. I've pretty much abandoned it. I just wasn't getting the traffic I thought I would. Maybe I am just not cut out to lead a forum. Oh well. So is life I guess.

I smell dinner cooking and damn it smells good! After I finish some online things I am heading down de stairs.

Until next time...

Bad Mood Rising

I am in the most rotten mood. I haven't had a bad mood like this in months. Nevertheless, it all started this morning when I didn't feel like going into work. But my husband talked me into going. We need the money and all of that. Now I am here and my mood is so sour I have more than once almost burst into tears. I would go home now, but I hate having to face my boss and tell her I don't feel well. It's not like I am throwing up or anything. I just have cramps, I am very tired, and I am in a bad mood. I don't think those are good enough reasons to go home sick for. And I hate lying because I have a feeling my boss can see right through that. So here I am.

It would have been easier to just call in and talk to her voicemail. So here I am stuck answering phones in a pleasant voice so that I don't spread my bad mood to the customers. The phones are ringing off the hook and I am here for another 7.5 hours. 6.5 hours if you exclude my lunch hour.

I am already feeling better after venting here. We'll see if it improves even more as the day goes on.

Song of the Day: Bad Mood-Velvetone

"I`m in a bad mood, baby, you better get outta my way.
I`m in a bad mood, you better get outta my way.
It ain`t your fault, baby, but don`t you talk to me.
You`d better leave me alone, I got nothin` to say."

Moments

Ever have a totally embarressing moment in front of your boss's boss? Well I did.

I was in a zone. Listening to music and news all day, I wasn't prepared to chat with anyone, nevertheless the head honcho.

When I was at the office's water cooler, he walked in the room where the cooler is and introduced himself to me since we were the only two in there. Of course I had to say some really dorky things that made me look like an idiot with an IQ of 2. I won't repeat them here because I would like to save myself some dignity.

What was said isn't anything to get me fired or reprimanded. Just small talk that went all wrong. On the embarressing scale 1 being the most embarressing moment of your life, this ranked at a 3. But still!

For those who watched the Apprentice, you should be familiar with that girl who used to embarress herself and everyone around her every time she opened her mouth. Well I watched her with fascination at how dorky, ridiculous, and rather eccentric someone could really be! I would watch and thank my lucky stars that I turned out to be a well-rounded (in more ways than one), articulate, and intelligent person.

Then today happens. Most of my embarressing moments happen when I get clumsy and trip over something. Physical comedy. I usually don't embarress myself with words. Not like I used to when I was younger. I've learned to watch what I say and think before I speak.

All that went out of the window today and boy am I beating myself up over it. I need to get my heads out of the clouds and focus when someone is speaking to me. That is where I went wrong today. *sigh*

Oh well.
