Happy New Years!!

Well it is not exactly New Years for me yet. It is only 6:51pm as I write this, but close enough.

Hubby and I are just staying in tonight. I'm getting happy with some Godiva White Chocolate Liquor mixed with ice and milk (yummmmmm) and some Bartle and James' Fuzzy Naval (I know, I know I'm a wimp. But spare me this one time.)

I don't do New Years resolutions because it is a waste of my time since I never even do them anyways. The same reason I've given up Lent . I'm a bad bad Catholic girl. *wink*

Anyhoo. I'm off of work tomorrow and Friday. Another four day weekend!! YAY!!!! It's gonna be so hard going back to work for full weeks again. The holidays always tease us with four day weekends and then the next thing we know, it is back to normal with no long weekends until March. *grrrrr* Oh well. Wait...we might get one in Feb for something. I don't remember and I don't have my work calendar in front of me so who knows.

I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years!! Stay safe and have fun!

Note: I have changed the book in the "Book I Am Reading" section found on the upper right hand side of this page if anyone is interested.

Puppy Days

Peppy my new puppy has turned my life around 180 both good and bad. He is only 3.5 months old so I have to be patient. This is the second time I've been able to get online for days. My hubby, bless his heart, gets up once in the middle of the night to take him out for a walk so that Peppy can do his business. Today my hubby, bless his heart again, took Peppy out for his walks all day. I was soooo exhausted from the hectic week and then Aunt Flo came to visit this morning so that brought on the extreme tiredness that lasts a day or two for me.

Peppy is a sweetheart but just when we thought we had him 90% housetrained, he got confused and started peeing in his crate when we let him out in the living room to play. He would go into his crate (we would leave the door open for him) and just pee! It is an improvement from when he would pee right where he stood, but still. So I figured out that he might just be confused. He knows it is not cool to pee on the living room carpet but yet he hasn't figured out to go to the front door to let us know. So his resolution is to pee in his crate. *tsk tsk* This is gonna be a harder road than I thought. But with patience, advice, and more patience, it should all work out.

Also, I miss my kitties. Since we got Peppy on Monday, I have only seen my kitties a few times. It is hard to balance things out when the pup needs constant attention and supervision. Speaking of which, I need to get off of here so that I can show my kitty cats some love and affection. I miss them.

Christmas Vacation!!

We got Peppy our Beagle mix puppy on Monday Dec. 22nd and since that day, we have trained him to sit and he is half way housetrained already! He knows how to alert us when he needs to go while he is in his crate and he knows to let us know that he is not finished when we think it is time to come back inside. The only thing we need to train him to do now is to alert us when he is out playing in the house. Right now he just goes on the floor when he is in the middle of playing. But if we can train him to go to the front door and whine or something, we will be able to avoid accidents. From Monday to Thursday we had to take him out every three hours all day and night. But last night he was able to hold it in for 5 hours!!! YAY him!!

We are starting to think he is a Beagle/Shepherd mix. He has some physical characteristics of a Shepherd but he looks more like a Beagle. Plus the experts say Beagles are very hard to train and Shepherds are easy to train. Well Peppy is very easy to train so far. That leads us to believe he may very well be a shepherd mix.

Christmas was nice. Got up at 2am to open presents since we had to take the puppy outside to do his business anyways. I'll give you a list of presents I got some other time if I remember.

I am at work now. *sigh* A friday and a day after Christmas. It is ashame they are making us work today. What a waste. :(

Oh well. At least the weekend is starting tomorrow. YAY!!!

We got him!!! Peppy is now an official part of our family! We call him Peppy now because it matches his personality and it is easier than saying Pepe or Pepper.

He is just adorable! I love him so much. He tugged my heartstrings today. We hung out for a couple of hours and then hubby had to go out and buy something so while he was gone, me and Peppy played and cuddled and I fed him his dinner. Well when hubby got back he mentioned the car smelling like dog poo. (We gave Peppy a bath when we got him home because he had been walking in puppy poo all day at the pound) So I went out to the garage to try and find a hangin air freshner I thought we had in there. While I was out there, hubby said Peppy cried for me and tried looking for me everywhere. So he picked him out and showed him where I was. It was so adorable!!!

I'm in love everyone!

I'm Gonna Be Late, I'm Gonna Be Late!!

Frazzled! That is the state of mind I am in right now. So much going on. My desk here at work looks a mess, filled with forms, christmas goodies from co-workers, a plate of food from today's potluck, and personal items I need to take home such as library books, letter to a relative, a classified ad paper, ect.

In my head I am thinking about what I need to get done today at work (clean my cubicle up a bit so that I can work without clutter, get caught up with actual work since I have fallen behind this morning) and things that need to be done outside of work tonight (shopping for a few gifts, buying a pet carrier big enough for both cats in time for their appointment tomorrow morning, paying bills, ect). I'm also thinking that I am insane to be blogging right now when I need to balance my checkbook, finish my letter to my cousin, and visit some sites I wanted to see all in 5 mintues because that is how much time is left on this break. AHHHHHHH!

The holidays. You gotta love this time of year.

I can't wait to go Christmas shopping though. Hubby and I decided to put off on buying that flat screen tv so that we can buy some gifts for each other. Two things happened that is preventing us from being able to buy the tv and still get gifts. The first thing that happened is that we were not able to work as much overtime as we wanted due to some bad weather days recently so our paychecks today aren't as big as we hoped. Also, we are trying to adopt that puppy soon so we need to buy puppy things which adds up to about $90 for the things and another $90 to adopt him AND $40 to get our cats vaccinated so that our application can be approved. So if we bought the tv after all of that, we wouldn't have any money for anything else.

We are thinking of buying the tv next month sometime. :)

A Puppy For Christmas?

We are thisclose to adopting a puppy! It all started yesterday when I was seriously considering calling about the cute Beagle mix puppies at my local Humane Society. I was convinced that they had already been adopted out since they are puppies and they are just adorable, but somthing told me to just call them and ask anyway.

So I picked up the phone and called them up. They told me that all five of the pups had at least one application out on them already, and a couple of them had two applications out already. Meaning that if I put in an app for any of them I would be second or third on the list to adopt him/her. I told her that I would just wait until Spring then.

A few minutes later I told my husband and he said that we should at least try and put an app in for one of the dogs because you never know. So I printed the application, filled it out and after work we went by to drop it off. They told me to go look at the pups and pick one then come back to the front desk and tell them which one we wanted. So we took about 15 minutes looking at all five of them and decided on the one we thought would fit in the best with our family.

We took our "selection's" name to the desk and found out that he has one application and that app had already been approved. So basically he was already adopted by someone else. The only thing that needed to be done was the person needed to come in, pay the fees and take the dog. But the person never called back after the app was approved and according to the girl who took my app, "it's been awhile and he still has yet to contact us so I will give him one more chance." In the meantime my app needed to be approved first.

I called them today to make sure I gave them my correct cell phone # (I always get two numbers wrong ) and I wanted to make sure they had my correct contact info just in case. They checked my phone # and it was the correct one, but the guy said that he is glad I called because there are two "issues" with my app that I need to resolve. So he handed the phone to the gal who took my information yesterday. She said the two issues are these: The first is that my vet has no record of my cats getting their rabies vaccinations. So I agreed to have them vaccinated per state law. The second issue is that she cannot get ahold of my landlord for confirmation that we are allowed to have a dog.

So the first "issue" will be resolved on Saturday since I made an appt to get both cats vaccinated. The second issue is out of my hands but I really hope they can get ahold of my landlord soon.

I called back and told her that the appt for the vet is made and she thanked me for calling and said that she would follow up with my vet on Monday. She also said that she has left two messages for my landlord and has gotten no callbacks. She will try again Monday. I just hope she gets through.

So anyways, as of today the puppy we picked is still available so we are hoping the guy who adopted her does not decide to come get him.

Cross your fingers and paws that we get approved and get the puppy next week! If worse comes to worse and we don't get the pup we want, there are others we can look into so hope is not all lost.

We are going to buy all the things a puppy needs (dog bed, toys, bones, leash, ect) on Friday or Saturday so we are prepared no matter which puppy we get!

Things To Ponder

How come if an animal is sick and suffering, it is considered humane to put the animal to sleep, but if I was sick and suffering it is considered murder if I ask someone to put me to sleep?

And here are 14 Things That it Took 50 yrs to Learn. I found it online and decided to put them here today.

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a
laxative on the same night.

2. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human
race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential,
that word would be "meetings."

3. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental

4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost
want you to share yours with them.

5. You should not confuse your career with your life.

6. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

7. Never lick a steak knife.

8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and
compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely
suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual
baby emerging from her at that moment.

11. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age,
gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that,
deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

The Annual Workplace Christmas Party

1. It was alright. I didn't have enough alcohol to numb the pain though.

2. Okay, I totally wished my immediate supervisor would have gotten rip-roaring drunk as we had all anticipated. It would have made things much more entertaining to see a supervisor or two making total unprofessional, fools of themsleves. Oh well...maybe one day.

3. I think we should have all recieved a small gift of some sort. Most of us went there with nothing and went home with nothing but bad memories of seeing our co-workers and supervisors outside of work. Again, if I could have afforded to get really drunk, it would have made not getting a gift more bearable.

4. Why do I subject myself to this hell every year? When will I learn??

5. At least there was free food that was pretty decent. Maybe that is why I go every year. I want my employer to pay for my dinner and that happens once a year at the Christmas party.

6. Why did the two girls that I know dislike me as much as I dislike them come up to me trying to make friendly talk? They acted as if we were all the best of friends. *gag* Maybe it was the alcohol talking. Luckily they were just walking by so I didn't need to endure their fake "friendliness" too long.

Where is the Christmas cheer? Well, again...if I would have been able to get wasted drunk there would have been plenty of Christmas cheer. At least enough Christmas cheer to make the party not seem as though I was getting a vaccination of bleach on my ass. *grumble*

Puppy Love

We want a beagle puppy. Looking through there are some beagle mix puppies at my local humane society, but we don't have the money right now to go get one. So we might just have to stick with our plan of getting one in the spring. Though a puppy would be awesome to get for Christmas!

I proposed that we buy a little at a time every paycheck. Like one payday go out and buy a doggie bed and maybe some toys, then the next check buy the baby gates or a big cage for house training our puppy, then before long the only thing we'll need to buy is the puppy! That way we won't have to put down a lot of money at one time buying all of these things the very day we get the pup. It just makes more sense to me this way.

But seeing those puppies pics, it is sooo hard to wait! Luckily we are near broke this weekend and it helps that there is 6 inches of snow on the ground preventing us from driving anywhere today. :P

Friday Five!

1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays? No I hate it. I like seeing it in pictures or even out of the window, but I cannot stand being out in it. *brrrrr*

2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect? Opening gifts with my husband while listening to Christmas music and drinking hot chocolate with some Bailey's. Then sitting down to enjoy our gifts and watch good Christmas movies like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story.

3. Do you do have any holiday traditions? I did when I lived at home with the parents. But now it is really not too traditional. One thing I try to keep a tradition though is to open one gift on Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas morning.

4. Do you do anything to help the needy?
Yes. I donate a little bit to United Way and to the Salvation Army.
5. What one gift would you like for yourself? The gift of losing weight. I REALLY need to start losing these pounds if I want to look good for the summer.

Snow Day!!

Like the snowflakes? It only took me two days to get them to work. I realize not everyone has the most up-to-date browers and so if you are seeing red "x"s or other odd things, chances are you don't have the newest version of your browser. So upgrade and tell me what you think of the snow!

I think I'll keep them on here. On Valentines Day I will change them to hearts and during the summer I will change them to bubbles and then when fall comes around again, I will update them to leaves. There is an unlimited number of things I can have fall through this blog! Someone even has pennies falling on their site. Kinda corny, but if I win lots of money, I will remember that idea. :P

Treasure Hunt

The weekend went by way too fast. We worked 4 hours of overtime on Saturday and then we spent most of the day running errands and shopping. That night we went to a small party put on by two friends of ours. It was great! We met new people, had good food and drink and had fun playing Battle of the Sexes . Granted there were a few heated moments in the game, but overall it was fun and something different for a change.

We left there about 2:30am and didn't get to sleep until close to 4am. We got like 5 or 6 hours of sleep in before we had to get up for the hour and a half car ride to visit my parents.

We made it through the afternnoon with my parents even though we were hung over and tired. But it was a great visit. We exchanged christmas gifts and hung out. I decided to go into their garage and look for some old elementary school yearbooks I want to see. While scrounging around down there in the dark with all the creepy crawlies, I found an Atari 2600 in it's original box from back in the day!

The Atari box is very well worn, but it is the original box nonetheless. It has the game system, two controllers and two paddle controllers. All of the cords are still in the box as well. It was exciting!

My dad and I agreed that if I can sell it for a nice price on eBay or somewhere, we would split the money 50/50. So if anyone is interested in buying it, let me know. I haven't tested it out yet but I plan to sooner or later.

What do you do when you think you've bought a great gift for dad but when you call to talk to mom about it, she sounds as though he won't like the gift as much as you think he will?

You either take it back to the store and try again, or you take your chances and keep it hoping he surprises mom and actually likes it!

What am I going to do?

I'm somewhat of a gambler. I'll take my chances and hope I was right and mom is wrong. :)

Lost Features:

Just a quick re-cap of some of the fun things to do in this blog besides reading my boring prose.

New comments feature is up. You can comment on any entry. C'mon, you know you have something to say.

Look to the right of this page and you'll see at the top a link to the book I am currently reading. That changes fairly often.

Above that is a link to "100 Things About Me" if you are at all interested.

Below all that, near the bottom is a search engine for this site and for the whole web. It's kinda crappy. Well, it is free and you get what you pay for. When I type in a word that I KNOW is in one of my entries, nothing comes up. If I find a better company to get a search box from or if I choose to cough up the money for the better version, I'll let you know. For now, it is just good for decoration I guess.

Then there is the GuestMap. It's fun! Please don't be shy and sign it!

A feedback button follows that. If you have an urge to email me, use that button.

And of course a list of my favorite blogs to read. This list gets longer so make sure you keep checking back for more blogs to read!

This was supposed to be quick, but it seems I've taken most of the entry just talking about the features. So I won't bore you will anymore drival from me. Bye!

Oh and one more thing, yesterday went by very fast as I hoped. So thanks to everyone who wished with me! *hee hee*

Fast Day!

*whew* Today went by very smoothly! It actually went by very fast. I have about 20 more minutes left in overtime, then it is home I go.

So there is this person that works with me that can't figure out why no one likes her. I figured out it is because she is so bitter all the time. You say hi to her and she grunts or just ignores you altogether. If she was a friend of mine, I would just tell her this, but being that she is hot and cold with me depending on the day, I'd rather not point out this flaw to her for fear of a fist punched into my nose. So I will let her continue to wonder why no one likes her.

Oh well. One day down, four more to go. I hope tomorrow goes by as fast as today has gone.
